Tyler's First Halloween!

The third annual haunted house at the new digs took place this year with great success. The event's gone on for over 15, maybe 20 if you count all the years before our 5 year hiatus when we lived downtown.

Present (left to right) Jackson, Adriel, Uncle Dan, Mommy, Cousin Eoin, Daddy, Tyler, and Johan. Also present were Auntie Ciaran and cousin Ed, not pictured. Later on Grandpa, Nana, and Pappa all stopped by.

The neighborhood kids were suitably terrified, as once again the Black Shoe crew carried on the haunted house tradition by never speaking a word to the children, and never, ever, breaking character.

Many years of wear and tear on our signature white masks required the addition of a second style of face covering this year, a prospect I had previously thought to be sacrilege. However, when shopping I discovered a featureless, all black fabric mask (pictured above) which, in my many years of looking is the only thing truly creepy enough to join the old white standby.

More importantly, it was little Tyler's first ever Halloween, and he donned the same little pumpkin suit his brother had worn. (on loan again from Auntie Sherry) He was cute as a button, and he and his big bro (dressed as a fireman) came out and joined the festivities.

Jackson was the only kid on the block not scared it seemed. While kids from the ages 2 - 12 ran in terror from Daddy in his white mask and black cape, Jackson just followed his Pop around the driveway asking "Daddy, wha doing?"

All in all, a triumphant success, where children could be heard all over the street yelling in excitement "that's the best house on the block!"
